Embossing was originally invented for manual financial transactions when the electronics were unavailable.

The characters are stamped into the back side of the card, making them stand out on the front side as heightened characters.

There are two fonts available “OCR” – Numeric only – 5mm high and “Simplex” Alphanumeric – 3mm high.

The characters are “tipped” with either a silver or gold foil finish.
